Evening and weekend service
The metro in the evening and at night
On Fridays and Saturdays Line 1 runs late: last departures from the termini at about 01:20–01:30. On other days the last trains leave between 22:30 and 23:00 (Line 2 until 23:18).
After the metro closes, ANM night buses take over. Line 6 closes earlier (21:30 on weekdays, 15:30 at weekends) — check the ANM alerts for updates.
Special situations
Temporary closures
The network is expanding fast: works on the sections under construction (Capodichino, Di Vittorio) can shorten evening service on some days, with replacement buses. Always check the alerts on anm.it.
Extra trains
On Maradona stadium match days and for big events, Lines 2 and 6 are reinforced — but expect crowds right after the final whistle.
Reduced timetable
In August and on public holidays frequencies thin out slightly. At Christmas and New Year ANM publishes special timetables.
07:00–22:00
The 4 funiculars run about every 10 minutes from 7 am to 10 pm; at weekends the Central and Chiaia lines extend their evening service.
Tips for passengers
Practical tips
- Exact times: they vary by station — check the platform displays or the official ANM/Trenitalia channels.
- Line 6: remember the reduced hours (closes at 15:30 at weekends) — for Fuorigrotta in the evening use Line 2 to Campi Flegrei.
- Last train: after 22:30 plan your trip back in advance with the route planner.
- Transfers: the TIC ticket gives you 90 minutes with unlimited changes — one ticket almost always covers the whole trip.
- Strikes: Italian local-transport strikes are announced days in advance, with guaranteed morning and evening windows.
