Your options at a glance

Naples-Capodichino is one of the closest airports to a city centre in Europe: the Central Station is just 5 kilometres away. The metro doesn't reach it yet — the Capodichino station of Line 1 is under construction — so today you have three options: the Alibus shuttle, a fixed-fare taxi or the shared taxi. From the Central Station continue anywhere on Line 1 (Garibaldi) or Line 2 (Piazza Garibaldi).

  1. At arrivals follow the Alibus signs and buy the ticket (€5).
  2. Get off at Piazza Garibaldi (first stop, 15–20 minutes).
  3. Inside the station take the Line 1 gates (Garibaldi): 4 stops to Toledo, in the heart of the city (€1.50 ticket).
  4. For the Vomero hill stay on to Vanvitelli; for the Chiaia seafront take Line 6 from Municipio.
  5. Heading to the port and the island ferries? Stay on the Alibus to Molo Beverello.

What about the metro?

The metro is coming to the airport

The Capodichino station of Line 1 is under construction: once open, the airport will be directly linked to Centro Direzionale, Garibaldi (Central Station), via Toledo and the rest of the network — no transfers. We'll update this page as soon as an official opening date exists.

Good to know

Watch out

Official taxis only

Ignore anyone offering rides inside the terminal: use only the white taxis in the official rank outside and ask for the fixed fare straight away.

Timing

Night flights

The Alibus stops around midnight and restarts at 05:30. If you land at night, your options are a fixed-fare taxi or a pre-booked transfer.

Tickets

Alibus ≠ urban ticket

The Alibus needs its own €5 ticket — the €1.50 ANM single and the TIC are not valid on the shuttle.

Islands

Straight to the ferries

For Capri, Ischia and Procida the Alibus is the easiest choice: it stops right at Molo Beverello, in front of the hydrofoils.

Take the Alibus to Piazza Garibaldi and then the Circumvesuviana: read our guide Naples to Pompeii. For Sorrento and the coast, same line to the terminus.

Yes, it’s a shuttle with luggage space. At peak times it can be crowded: with more than two large suitcases the shared taxi (€6/person) is often more comfortable.
