How to get to National Archaeological Museum (MANN) by metro

Overview

The National Archaeological Museum of Naples — the MANN — holds one of the world's most extraordinary collections of antiquities: the treasures of Pompeii and Herculaneum (mosaics, frescoes and everyday objects), the Farnese Collection with the Farnese Hercules and Farnese Bull, the Secret Cabinet and the Egyptian section. The "Museo" metro station is literally beneath the museum and echoes its classical themes with reproductions of statues such as the Farnese Hercules.

How to get there

Get off at Museo station on Line 1 (orange): the exit leaves you practically in front of the museum entrance, about a 2-minute walk. Alternatively you can use Piazza Cavour station on Line 2, connected to Museo by a pedestrian tunnel of about 400 metres.

Good to know

💡 It is the best introduction to a visit to Pompeii: many of the finest finds from the excavations are kept here. Remember, though, that Pompeii and Herculaneum are reached by the Circumvesuviana train from Napoli Garibaldi, not by the metro.
